Heading North: A 4,000km WA Outback Adventure Begins

In our last post, we talked about everything happening behind the scenes. The planning, the logistics, the endless lists, and the excitement of knowing that in less than a year we’ll be shipping the bike to the UK to begin our biggest adventure yet. Now it’s time to stop planning and start riding.
Today we set off on a two-week, 4,000-kilometre journey through the heart of Western Australia’s outback as we make our way to the Off Centre Rally at Mount Augustus.

This feels like more than a two week holiday. Every longer trip we take now is an opportunity to test our equipment, routines and the things we’ll depend once we are doing this full-time.
Gattin back in the rhythm riding the bike fully loaded?
Have we packed too much… or not enough?
Are our charging systems, luggage layout and daily routines as efficient as we think they are?
These are the questions we can only answer by getting out there and doing it.
Our route will take us into the mid west & Gascoyne regions, trading the forests of the South West for wide-open roads, endless horizons and some of the most iconic landscapes in Western Australia.
At the centre of the trip is Mount Augustus, the world’s largest monocline and the gathering place for this year’s Off Centre Rally.
Like many riders, we’re looking forward to meeting new people and sharing stories around camp after long days on the road. It's one of those events where the destination is only part of the experience.
While we’re excited for what’s ahead, we’re also continuing work on the current series of rides back home. There are still more stories from our recent adventures to bring to the channel, and they’ll continue to roll out over the coming weeks.
At the same time, another New Zealand Two-Up adventure is beginning to take shape later this year. Every ride has its own story, but each one is also helping us prepare for something much bigger.
With every passing month, our departure date moves a little closer.
Maps are becoming routes. Ideas are becoming bookings.
Shopping lists are becoming purchases.
The dream that once felt years away is now measured in months.
There’s still plenty to organise before we board a flight and collect the bike in the United Kingdom, but that’s all part of the adventure.
We’ll be sharing plenty of updates from the road throughout the trip, so keep an eye on our Instagram page for photos and daily moments from the journey.
Then, once we’re home, we’ll begin sharing the full adventure over on the YouTube channel.
